European Chemistry Thematic Network: Core Chemistry in European Universities

Abstract

The activities of the ECTN work group "Core Chemistry for the future" in the years 2000-2002 have focused on the development of a curriculum that looks to a way of teaching chemistry degrees that will be acceptable across Europe in the future. The drafting of the curriculum has been based on the following actions: 1) Investigation on the countries where it was already proposed, or was just about to start, a Chemistry degree in three years time; 2) Analysis of the innovative proposal of Core chemistry for the future drafted by M. Gagan (Open University, UK).
